Immigration and Asylum Chamber President

Mr Justice Lane became President of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber of the Upper Tribunal in October 2017 following his appointment to the High Court Bench.

Admitted as a solicitor in 1985, he was appointed a fee-paid immigration adjudicator in 1996. In 2001 he was appointed as a full-time adjudicator, becoming in 2003 a Vice President of the Immigration Appeal Tribunal.

From 2005 to 2010 he was a Senior Immigration Judge in the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal. In 2010, he became a Judge of the Upper Tribunal and in 2014 was appointed as President of the General Regulatory Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal, a role he continues to fulfil pending the appointment of his successor.
