Family Procedure Rules and Practice Directions

The Family Procedure Rules (external link) and their related practice directions provide for the procedure to be followed in the Family Division of the High Court, the Family Court and family hearings in magistrates’ courts. When family cases are heard by the Court of Appeal they are listed as civil cases and the Civil Procedure Rules apply.
